Cheap Places to Travel in December

December is a peak travel season as families get together to share the spirit of the holidays. However, this winter month is also part of the low-season for travel in some parts of the world. The low-season means quieter cities, cheaper accommodation and less traffic than more popular months. Some destinations consider the winter months a low-season because of cooler temperatures. Countries that do not celebrate December holidays, such as Christmas, are not as popular during this month.
  1. Morocco

    • Morocco is a popular European travel destination in the summer months with a price tag to match. Morocco's busiest months are from July to September. The weather in Morocco in December is mild, with sunny days and occasional flash flooding from rainstorms. Enjoy sightseeing without the sweltering heat when compared to the hot and humid summer months. Morocco, an Islamic country, does not consider Christmas a public holiday. Therefore, when you visit in December, you will not encounter the holiday crowds of shoppers you find in Western countries.

    Mediterranean

    • The Mediterranean region includes all the land surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. Popular travel destinations in the area are Greece, Cyprus, Crete and Turkey. Visit the Mediterranean region during December to enjoy low-season prices. Temperatures in December stay between 50 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Visit Philadelphia during December to enjoy the holiday celebrations and historical attractions for a fraction of the price.
