Most train seats are large enough for a 2-year-old to take a comfortable nap. Plus, you are free to walk around and stretch your legs at any time. Taking the train to see distant relatives or friends makes for an adventurous and economical family vacation.
Large villas that accommodate multiple families are available in many coastal U.S. states, such as Florida, and also across Europe. If you book early, travel outside the peak season, and share the cost with another family or families, the cost per person per night can be cheaper than camping. Vacationing with a larger group also means that you can pool childcare duties, and each set of parents can have some time off from babysitting during the vacation.
