Beale Street was known for its carnival atmosphere during the roaring '20s. The Memphis neighborhood was famous for its nightclubs, theaters, restaurants and music, as well as for its gambling, prostitution, murder and voodoo. Today, more than 25 clubs and shops call Beale Street their home, including B.B. King's Blues Club, where people from all over the country come to listen to the Blues. In addition, a three-day concert known as the Beale Street Music Festival is held every May.
