    • People-watching is fun at A Salt and Battery and you may even rub shoulders with a celebrity or two. Large portions of fish 'n' chips are the most popular dish at A Salt and Battery and you can have yours made to order with your choice of pollock, haddock, cod or sole. Customers can also enjoy several steak and traditional British fare such as kidney pie and mushroom pie. If you are feeling adventurous and/or trying to satisfy a sweet tooth, finish off your meal with a deep-fried Mars Bar. The beer list at A Salt and Battery is not long but it is authentic and you will find a selection of rare British ales that changes often.

      This is not the fanciest restaurant in New York City but is one of the most popular based on its quality and low prices. This restaurant was recently featured on celebrity chef Bobby Flay's "Throwdown" program on the Food Network. The focus of that particular episode was "Cheap in eats in NYC."     • Aamchi Pao is a newer small Indian restaurant in NYC that is growing increasingly popular. Located on Bleecker Street in the heart of Greenwich Village, this restaurant focuses on the regional street foods of Mumbai. Try the popular Pao, which is a white bun stuffed with a number of spices, meats and vegetables. Other popular meals are pulled tandoori goat leg and vada, which combines fried potatoes with a hearty chickpea paste and flavored with chutney and garlic. "Time Out New York" included Aamchi Pao in its most recent list of "Best New Cheap Eats."

    The Pig N' Whistle

    • The Pig N' Whistle is an Irish pub-style restaurant located just across the street from Duffy Square in the center of Times Square. Pig N' Whistle features a number of classic American dishes, like the popular New York shell steak that is served with a hearty portion of thick steak fries, and authentic Irish dishes such as Shepard's pie, made with ground beef, carrots, onions and peas and topped with mashed potatoes. The Pig N' Whistle is moderately priced and serves food until 2 a.m. every day of the week.
