Cleveland is Ohio’s largest metropolitan city, and is located close to lake Erie’s southern shore. For a memorable wedding near the city, beach houses, cottages and lodges are abundant on the Lake Erie Islands, which are quickly and easily reachable. Hocking Hills is another popular destination for weddings, as are the islands near Cleveland and there are various types of accommodations and wedding venues available.
The Lake Erie Islands, including Kelleys Island, are west of Cleveland. South Bass Island has been referred to as Put-in-Bay Island in the past and has been famous as a summer resort for over a century. The Put-in-Bay Villas opened up in 2010 and are adjacent to the Put-in-Bay Resort & Conference Center, making it a convenient place to host your wedding. The South Shore Condominiums are located right next to the water with 500 feet of shoreline and a beautiful view of the mainland and surrounding islands. Hotels and bed and breakfasts are also an option on this island.
If you are willing to be a little further from Cleveland, Hocking Hills is a scenic place for a wedding. In the midst of seemingly rugged terrain is Georgian Manner Bed and Breakfast. It is styled after the plantations of the south and can even be rented out in its entirety for your wedding weekend. The manner sits along the edge of Lake Logan, offers a formal dining room, banquet hall, gazebo and a lakeside pavilion to get married in. For less lavish accommodations, Best Nest Cabins offers one to four bedroom cabins among others, and there are many romantic places to tie the knot, such as by the Ash Cave waterfall, which also offers cabins nearby.
