The Caribbean is always a popular cruise location because of the dozens of tropical islands that are within short distance of each other. The Disney Caribbean cruise includes trips to 11 different destinations throughout the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. While in the West Indies, the cruise makes excursions to Martinique, Aruba, Barbados and Guadalupe, where cruise guests can choose from a list of activities, from visiting local museums to touring rum distilleries. The ship also ventures down to the Virgin Islands, making stops in both the U.S. and U.K. territories, and later to the Cayman Islands, St. Maarten and Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico.
While the Caribbean Disney cruise does make a couple of stops near Cancun on the eastern shore of Mexico, the Mexican Riviera cruise by Disney takes travelers over to the Pacific Ocean and the country's west coast. This includes the Baja peninsula and the seaside towns of Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, as well as mainland Mazatlán, Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta. Some of the more popular activities on these excursions, aside from dining and relaxing on the beach, are sporting-based, whether it's deep sea fishing in Cabo San Lucas or scuba diving in Puero Vallarta. The cruise also ventures outside of Mexico for a stop at the environmentally rich Puntarenas in Costa Rica.
Aside from the Mexican Riviera, Disney offers another Pacific Ocean cruise, one that travels from San Francisco and up the Pacific coast and ends up in Alaska. The only excursions to non-U.S. cities are to Vancouver and Victoria, Canada, at the bottom tip of British Columbia. Most stops on the trips along the Alaskan coast include the capital city, Juneau, as well as Ketchikan, Tracy Arm and Skag Way, all of which reside in the lower ridge of the state. The primary attraction in these towns is the vast untouched wilderness that surrounds them. Activities in the area include hiking, salmon fishing and even panning for gold.
The Disney cruise lines also stretch across the Atlantic Ocean to the European continent, making the rounds specifically in the Mediterranean Sea. While the cruise includes stops at islands such as Gibraltar, Malta and Corisca, many of the excursions are throughout the Mediterranean coastline from Barcelona through the French Riviera and down through Italy, making stops in Rome, Florence and Naples. In addition to all of these European destinations, the Disney cruise includes a stop in Tunis, Tunisia, on the northern tip of Africa, not far from Sicily. Aside from the many leisure activities available in the ideal Mediterranean climate, nearly all the excursions offer historic attractions dating back to ancient times.
