    Douthat State Park

    • Find Douthat State Park near Clifton Forge, Va. It ranks as one of the 10 best state parks in America by "Outside Family Vacation Guide." Douthat State Park was one of the first six state parks opened in Virginia in 1936. It is also on the National Register of Historic Places. The park offers swimming, boating and fishing. The campgrounds have overnight accommodations for campers, tents and also rental cabins. The cabins have weekly rates and offer fireplaces, grills, heat/air conditioning, kitchens with large and small appliances and many more amenities.     Claytor Lake State Park

    • Claytor Lake State Park spans 4,500 acres in Dublin in southwestern Virginia. The park shares its name with Claytor Lake, which is approximately 21 miles long. The park includes camping areas for both tents and RVs, as well as 13 cabins available for rent. It has a beach area for swimming, as well as a snack bar, gift shop and Wi-Fi near the beach area. Claytor Lake State Park also has a conference facility for larger gatherings such as weddings, reunions or retreats. The camping area is open between Memorial Day and Labor Day, while the four miles of hiking trails are open all year-round. The park also has an Environmental Education Center that offers guided tours and programs.
