What to Wear on a Chops Cruise

The Chops restaurant on a typical cruise ship is a less formal restaurant that is geared toward family and casual dining. A Chops Cruise, therefore, is a cruise in which all of the dining locations are less formal and more casual, as is the attire.
  1. Daytime Wear

    • Daytime on a Chops Cruise is the same as daytime on any other type of cruise ship. There is no difference in dress. Swimsuits and swimsuit coverups are all that are needed for being out on the deck. A Chops Cruise has plenty of places to eat casually during the day so you can wander into any eatery on the deck and get breakfast or lunch, even while in your swimwear. If you plan on being in the salon, the stores, or the casino during the day you should wear jeans, shorts, skirts, sundresses, tank tops or T-shirts.

    Nighttime Wear

    • Nightwear is different on a Chops Cruise. On a typical cruise ship, you'll be dressing up in casual formal wear for the majority of your dinners. For at least one, or maybe two, of the evenings you will be required to wear formal dress to dinner. Chops Cruises have all informal and casual dining so you don't need to worry about any formal clothes. You can wear informal clothes like jeans and shirts to dinner or you can go with slightly formal clothes like slacks, sport coats, skirts or dresses. Regardless, on a Chops Cruise you can decide where you want to eat and you can choose a location on the ship that matches the clothing you have brought along. You'll want to bring at least one pair of slacks, socks and a long sleeve shirt just in case you end up with a rainy day.

    Traveling Off The Ship

    • On a Chops Cruise, just like any other type of cruise ship, you'll be traveling to ports of call on several of your days. Typical Chops Cruises have at least three ports of call that you'll be docking at for three different days. When you are traveling off the ship, what you wear is going to depend on what you are doing. If you are going to be active climbing mountains, zip lining, riding horses or bikes, you'll want to dress accordingly for each. For water activities such as parasailing, diving or snorkeling, you'll want swimwear. For just walking around town, shopping or seeing the sites, you'll want to wear comfortable shoes and casual summer clothes or winter clothes, depending on the weather.
