How to Travel to Germany With Children

Germany is a country full of castles and fairy tales. The Brothers Grimm called northwest Germany home. Along the winding Rhine River, you will find many a castle full of history and legends. Any child will have an adventure here. Children who dream of castles, knights and damsels in distress will be captivated.

      Acquire your passport. Children will also need passports. Consult with the Germany Embassy to find out about current visa requirements. Allow plenty of time in advance for this.

      Prepare your children for the trip to Germany. Discuss with them the places you will be seeing and the history or legends. This will help to excite your child. Ask older children where they would like to visit. Incorporate their choices into your visit if possible.

      Learn basic German phases. "Yes" (Ja), "no" (nein), "thank you" (danke) and "please" (bitte) are easy phrases for your children to pick up. Children may feel overwhelmed with the different language. Knowing a few simple phrases may help this.
