Where did Gypsy Vanner Horses originate?

The Gypsy Vanner horse is believed to have originated in the British Isles, specifically in England and Ireland, in the 18th and 19th centuries. They were developed by Romani people (commonly known as Gypsies) who traveled throughout the region and needed sturdy and versatile horses for pulling their caravans and other heavy loads. To achieve this, they selectively bred various horse breeds, including native British breeds like the Shire, Clydesdale, Dales Pony, and Fell Pony, with heavier breeds imported from continental Europe, such as the Friesian and Percheron.
