Salamanca Doesn't Move to Ohio in "Walk Two Moons"

In Sharon Creech's novel Walk Two Moons, Salamanca Tree Hiddle does not move from Idaho to Ohio. The fictional town of Salamanca is in Idaho (near the real city of Lewiston), and it is the destination to which Sal and her grandparents drive from Ohio.

The story's road trip travels from Euclid, Ohio, westward to Salamanca, Idaho, following the route Sal's mother took before she disappeared. Sal narrates the journey, which includes stops at Pipestone National Monument, Mount Rushmore, and Yellowstone. The confusion may stem from the novel's Ohio starting point.
