Getting from Gare Saint-Lazare to the Eiffel Tower: Metro, Taxi, and Walking Routes

Arriving at Paris's bustling Gare Saint-Lazare with the Eiffel Tower on your mind? You're about 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles) from the Iron Lady — a journey of 20-35 minutes depending on your chosen mode.

Option 1: Metro — The Classic Parisian Way (≈25 minutes)

  1. Enter Gare Saint-Lazare Métro station (lines 3, 12, 13, 14)
  2. Take Line 3 toward Pont de Levallois–Bécon — 3 stops to Havre–Caumartin
  3. Transfer to Line 9 toward Mairie de Montreuil — 2 stops to Alma–Marceau
  4. Exit onto Avenue Montaigne, walk 10 minutes northwest along the Seine via Pont de l'Alma

Alternative Metro route: Line 13 to Invalides → Line 8 to École Militaire → 10-minute walk up Avenue de la Bourdonnais (as originally described). Both work; the Line 3/9 combo is often faster.

Option 2: Taxi or Rideshare — Door-to-Door Comfort (20-30 minutes, €15-25)

Official Paris taxis (roof light = available) queue at the station's Cour de Rome exit. Uber, Bolt, and Free Now operate via apps. Traffic near the Seine quays can add 10+ minutes at rush hour. Confirm the fare estimate before boarding.

Option 3: Walk + Metro Hybrid — For the Scenic Route

Walk 15 minutes to Saint-Lazare Métro, take Line 12 toward Mairie d'Issy (3 stops to Assemblée Nationale), then stroll 15 minutes along the Seine — passing the Musée d'Orsay — for river views the whole way.
