How to Mount a Generac 40 on a Horse Trailer

A generator in your horse trailer is beneficial to its inhabitants in either cold or hot weather, allowing you to hook up a fan or even a barn-safe heating unit for your animals. If you're installing Generac's steel-encased QuietPact 40, made for RVs and horse trailers, you have two types of mounts to choose from: one that hooks your 170 lb. QuietPact 40 to the floor in a corner, and another that suspends it from the ceiling.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine exactly where you will place your horse trailer mount (two company-approved options for mounting kits are available in the Resources section). If you are going to mount it on the ceiling, make sure the material can hold 170 lbs. of extra weight.

    • 2

Place your mounting frame in place and draw four holes through its four corner bolt holes, whether you're hanging your Generac 40 from the ceiling or on the floor. Set the frame aside.

    • 3

Drill four holes through the bottom or roof of your horse trailer, with the same size bit as the bolts provided with your generator mounting kit.

    • 4

Secure your Generac 40 generator on -- or inside -- the mount with the supplied bolts.

    • 5

Move the generator on its frame to the location you'll mount it to the horse trailer. Line up the mounting holes on the frame with the ones you drilled earlier. Connect the generator frame to the body of the horse trailer with the bolts and nuts provided with your mount.
