How to Take a Tour of Singapore

Singapore is a city and independent nation located on an island off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. It's location of only 85 miles from the equator gives it a tropical climate. The city is the world's fourth largest financial center and is filled with people from many different countries and cultures including Chinese, Indians and Malays. The city is large and complex and yet can be enjoyed on a half-day, day or multi-day tour. Planning which sites you want to see in the time and money you have to spend is critical in enjoying a meaningful tour of Singapore.

If you are flying through Singapore on a business trip or vacation and want to plan a half-day trip, consider taking a free colonial or cultural tour of the city on a bumboat ride that takes you past sites like the Merlion, Raffles Hotel, shops and colonial buildings. You can take the free Singapore transit bus to Singapore's Chinatown or explore the Sultan Mosque in Kampong Glam. To book either one of these free tours, visit the Free Singapore Tour Booths located in the Transit Mall before you clear customs at Singapore's airport. Then, travel to Terminal 2 or 3 depending on which tour you choose.

Plan to take a bus or taxi from your hotel to the center, which will cost $3 for a bus or $15-20 each way for a taxi ride. Enjoy waterworks and electron exhibits as well as IMAX movies. Your children can play at Snow City next to the Science Center. Plan to spend about $41 for each adult and $21 for each child on these activities, plus money for meals on this tour.
