In 2011, trips will include Winter Wonderland in Yellowstone, with snow-shoeing, dogsledding and optional ziplining; Magical, Mystical Morocco, with tours of several cities, dune life, a camel ride and a cooking class; and a trek in the Himalayas.
Olivia Cruises caters to lesbian couples and their families. Cruises leave from New York and Miami for destinations including France, the Caribbean, the Mexican Riviera, Greece, and China. On-ship entertainers have included Melissa Etheridge, kd lang, Billie Jean King, Rosie Jones, Whoopi Goldberg and Lily Tomlin. Cruises for lesbians of color, called Sisters at Sea and Sisters at Play, offer special programming. Olivia also has a solo/singles program for women traveling alone to meet up for activities, meals and excursions.
Eurynome Journeys offers short, flexible package tours for women. The company makes hotel reservations, arranges transport and suggests dining options, but otherwise allows its groups to spend their days as they like. Groups are small, usually between 6 to15 women, so the company can arrange for stays in bed and breakfasts and small inns. The company also designs custom trips for groups of six or more, designed around the group's focus. Past custom trips have included history and art programs, nursing programs, heritage tours and alumni travel. Vacations for 2011 include Malta, Egypt, Ireland and Maine.
If you like to cycle, Woman Tours runs biking vacations several times a year. Tours include transportation of your luggage, lodging and most meals. Different tours are available for beginning cyclists and more advanced ones in different parts of the country. Some combine biking with other activities, such as the annual Tour de Tetons: Cycling & Yoga. Tours are led by experienced guides and followed by a van in case you get tired. You can bring your own bike or rent a woman-specific Terry bike just for the tour.
