Check out the website for the L.A. County Fair (see Resources below). This is the official website for the Los Angeles County fair. You can read up on their attractions, up-coming music performances, print out a map of the grounds and even learn how to buy advance tickets at certain area locations. Your trip to the fair truly starts online.
Plan your day at the L.A. County Fair. The fair is so expansive that without a game plan, you will be mindlessly roaming the grounds. Map out which attractions you and your family are interested in. Organize them in a chronological order and take note of any performance times that are imperative. While you of course don't have to stick to the schedule once you arrive, it will give a great guideline.
Refrain from eating before you hit the fair. While fair food can certainly be expensive, it is well worth it. They are also conscious of families visiting. Each member of your family can be fed with a couple of treats for $20 each. That money can go even further if you bring water to drink into the park. You are allowed to bring water and can also try to sneak some small snacks in your pockets.
Play games at the fair. This is another pastime. All the carnival type games are here. Just be ready to spend some significant money, as the games where you can choose any size prize are usually $5 to play. A tip is to play games where you are against other people, like the water gun hitting the sensor. In this game, there has to be at least 1 winner, therefore you increase your chances at getting a prize, versus simply playing "the house."
Go shopping at the L.A. County Fair. From barbecues to hot tubs to kitchen mops to jewelry cleaner and more, the L.A. County Fair is a great spot to buy holiday presents ahead of time. Take your gift money with you, as you will certainly find something for the loved ones in your life.
Attend a concert at the fair. The year-to-year info can be found on the L.A. County Fair site. But with most admissions to shows, you also get an admission to the park following the show. If you sit in the outer seats, the cost is just about the same as the entry ticket, meaning that you get to see the show free. It's also a great experience to share with your family.
Have fun at the L.A. County Fair. There really is no wrong way to enjoy the fair. If you're an adult the wine garden may be of interest and if you're a kid, the roller coaster may be more your speed. Just have a great time.
