Distance from Anchorage to the Alaskan Tundra

There is no single place called "Tundra, Alaska." Tundra is a biome—treeless, permafrost-dominated terrain—that covers vast areas of northern and western Alaska (North Slope, Seward Peninsula, Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta). Anchorage lies in south-central Alaska, in a boreal forest / coastal zone, roughly 500–800 miles (800–1,300 km) from the nearest true tundra regions. Reaching the tundra requires a flight to communities like Utqiaġvik (Barrow), Kotzebue, or Nome, or a multi-day expedition by specialized vehicle.
