How do you get from Vancouver to Alaska without flying?

You can reach Alaska from British Columbia by train and ferry, or by a car.

1) By Train and Ferry:

- First, take the Amtrak Cascades train from Vancouver to Prince Rupert.

- Then, take the BC Ferries Northern Expedition. The ferry ride is about 15 hours long and takes you through the Inside Passage, which is a scenic route with views of islands, fjords, and wildlife.

2) By Car:

- Take the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) to Dawson Creek.

- Then, take the Alaska Highway (Highway 97) through British Columbia and Yukon Territory, all the way to Alaska. The drive is about 2,400 kilometers and takes about 24 hours.

Keep in mind that you will need to pass through border crossings and customs, so make sure to have the necessary travel documents and permits. Additionally, the weather in these regions can be harsh, especially during the winter months, so plan your trip accordingly and ensure that you have adequate supplies and winter equipment, especially if you are driving your car.
