Does It Snow in St. Petersburg, Florida?

Snow in St. Petersburg is extremely rare. The only recorded measurable snowfall was January 19, 1977 (a trace to 0.2 inches across the Tampa Bay area). The city's subtropical climate (USDA zone 10a/10b) makes snow virtually impossible—winter lows rarely dip below 10°C (50°F). Frost is occasional inland; freezes are rare and brief.
