Can You Drive from Seattle to Alaska? No Direct Road.

There is no road connection between Seattle (or anywhere in the contiguous US) and Alaska.

Alaska is separated by 500+ miles of Canadian territory (British Columbia, Yukon). The only land route requires driving through Canada on the Alaska Highway (AK-2 / BC-97 / YT-1) from Dawson Creek, BC.

Practical Options

• Ferry: Alaska Marine Highway System – Bellingham, WA (near Seattle) → Ketchikan, AK (3 days). Vehicles accepted.
• Fly: Seattle (SEA) → Anchorage (ANC), Fairbanks (FAI), Juneau (JNU) – 3.5–4 hrs nonstop; multiple daily.
• Drive via Canada: Seattle → Dawson Creek (~750 mi) → Alaska Highway (~1,500 mi to Anchorage). Requires passport, vehicle docs, insurance valid in Canada.

The “drive to Alaska” means driving through Canada, not a direct US highway.
