Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps at 4,808 m, is composed primarily of granite and other crystalline rocks. It was formed by tectonic uplift, not volcanic activity.

Volcanic mountains arise from lava and ash accumulation; Mont Blanc's origins are entirely different, making it a classic example of an alpine plutonic peak.
