Where is Alexander island on Antarctica?

Alexander Island is an island off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, separated from it by Marguerite Bay. It covers 49,070 km² (18,950 sq mi), larger than Switzerland and is the largest island of Antarctica and the 23rd largest island in the world. It is mostly covered with ice and has some of the highest peaks on the continent including Mount Hope (3,239 m), the highest point in Antarctica outside the Antarctic Peninsula. The island is also known for its abundant wildlife including penguins, seals and whales.

Alexander Island is also home to several scientific research stations, including British Antarctic Survey's Rothera Research Station and the United States Antarctic Program's Palmer Station.
