Why you drive to Nome Alaska?

Nome, Alaska is located on the Seward Peninsula, approximately 550 miles northwest of Anchorage. It is accessible by road during the winter months via the Iditarod Trail, a historic sled dog race trail. The trail begins in Willow, Alaska, and winds through the wilderness for over 1,000 miles before reaching Nome. During the summer months, Nome is only accessible by air or sea.
