Is there anyone living on the continent of Antarctica?

There are no permanent residents of Antarctica. However, there are several scientific research stations located on the continent, staffed by scientists and support personnel. These stations are staffed during the summer months (November-March), and have a combined population of around 5,000 people. During the winter months, the population drops significantly, to around 1,000 people.

The people who live in Antarctica are mostly scientists, engineers, and technicians who are conducting research on the continent's unique climate, environment, and geology. They come from all over the world, and live in small, isolated communities. Living conditions in Antarctica are harsh, and the people who work there must be able to withstand long periods of isolation, extreme weather conditions, and limited access to fresh food and supplies.

In addition to the scientists and support personnel, there are also a few tourist expeditions to Antarctica each year. These expeditions typically last for a few days, and give tourists a chance to experience the continent's unique beauty and wildlife.
