Is There a Bridge Connecting Russia and Alaska?

No bridge or tunnel spans the Bering Strait between Russia (Chukchi Peninsula) and Alaska (Seward Peninsula). The narrowest point is ~85 km (53 miles) wide. Proposals for a "Bering Strait crossing" have existed for over a century but face immense engineering, financial, political, and environmental hurdles. The Diomede Islands (Big Diomede/Russia, Little Diomede/US) sit mid-strait.
