The Red River Valley is a line dance and is most popularly danced to the song of the same name. It is a smooth and easy-to-learn dance and can be danced with any number of people.

Basic Steps:

1. Starting position: Stand with your feet together and your arms at your sides.

2. Step forward with your right foot and swing your left arm forward. Bend your right knee and extend your left leg behind you.

3. Bring your left foot to your right foot and step back with your right foot. Bend your left knee and extend your right leg behind you.

4. Step to the side with your right foot and swing your left arm to the side. Bend your right knee and extend your left leg behind you.

5. Bring your left foot to your right foot and step forward with your left foot. Bend your left knee and extend your right leg behind you.

6. Repeat steps 1-5, alternating your feet.

Variations:

The Heel Toe Polka Variation:

Step forward with your left foot, then bring your right foot to your left foot. As you bring your right foot to your left foot, tap your heel on the floor and then pivot 180 degrees clockwise. Step forward with your right foot, then bring your left foot to your right foot. As you bring your left foot to your right foot, tap your toe on the floor and then pivot 180 degrees counterclockwise. Repeat steps 1-4.

The Grapevine Variation:

Step forward with your left foot, then step to the side with your right foot. Step forward with your left foot again, then step to the side with your right foot. Step back with your left foot, then step to the side with your right foot. Put your left toe in front of your right toe and turn counterclockwise.

The Triple Step Variation

Step forward with your right foot, then step to the side with your left foot. Step forward with your right foot again, then step to the side with your left foot. Step back with your right foot, then step to the side with your left foot. Put your right toe in front of your left toe and turn clockwise.
