      Get a good book on Oxford and read up on the city before you visit.

      Contact the Oxford Tourist Information Center by email or phone and make arrangements for accommodation. Ask them about the different tours available on weekends and make advance bookings if necessary.

      Drive down to Oxford by the M40 motorway (from London, the Midlands or by the M25) and take Junction 8 or Junction 9 straight to the city. If you're coming from Southampton, Portsmouth and Bristol, take the A34 and reach the Oxford ring road.

      Fly into Gatwick, Heathrow, Linton, Stansted or Birmingham International Airports. All these airports are only about an hour away from Oxford and are linked with good road and rail connections. The Oxford Bus Company Airlink service links Heathrow and Gatwick airports directly to the city.

      Take a bus to Oxford. The Oxford Bus Company, Oxford Tube and Oxford Espress run regular services from London Victoria to Gloucestershire Green bus station in Central Oxford. The Oxford Bus Company Airlink service links Heathrow and Gatwick airport direct to the city.

      Take a train directly from London Paddington or from Birmingham.

      Park your car, if you came by car, in one of the city's many Park and Rides. In some of these places you can Park and Phone, that is, park and pay for parking by credit/debit card by phone.

      Go on an official Walking Tour with the Blue Badge Guides. Official Walking Tours start from the Oxford Information Center at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. every day.
