Begin your tour of French wineries in the wine capital of France--Bordeaux. Each June, Bordeaux hosts an annual four-day wine festival. Sample some authentic Bordeaux wine at the Haut-Brion Château or at the neighboring Mission-Haut Brion, two of the most popular wineries in the area.
Move southeast to Provence. Tour the wineries situated along the beautiful French Riviera, including Domaine Sainte Marie, near La Mole.
Drive north to the Rhone Valley, known for its excellent red wines. While in the Rhone Valley, stay at the four-star Hostellerie Beau Rivage, overlooking the Rhone River.
Continue north to the heart of France, Burgundy. Take a tour of the Cote de Or, where the best of Burgundy's wine is produced.
Drive north to Champagne, the official home of that favorite sparkling cocktail. Raid the cellars of such notable champagne producers as Clicquot and Laurent Perrier. Check out the beautiful wine cellars, including one in a former Roman chalk pit in Reims.
Drive west to the beautiful Loire Valley, famed for its white wine. Along with touring the wineries of the Loire Valley, visitors can also tour the many royal chateaus and castle in the valley.
