Government of Namibia: Unitary Parliamentary Republic

Namibia is a unitary parliamentary republic.

• Head of State & Government: President (elected by National Assembly for 5-year term).
• Executive: President appoints Prime Minister and Cabinet.
• Legislature: Unicameral National Assembly (96 members, proportional representation, 5-year terms).
• Judiciary: Independent courts; Supreme Court is highest.

Since independence (1990), SWAPO Party has dominated elections. The constitution guarantees multiparty democracy and human rights.
