Ethnic Groups of Zimbabwe: Shona, Ndebele, and Minorities
Zimbabwe's population is predominantly African, comprising several ethnic groups:
Shona: ~75% of the population; primarily in central and eastern regions.
Ndebele: ~15%; mainly in the south and west (Matabeleland).
Smaller groups: Kalanga, Tonga, Venda, Sotho, and others.
The Shona and Ndebele have distinct languages, traditions, and historical trajectories, shaping Zimbabwe's cultural and political landscape since independence in 1980.
