Ghana-India relations

Ghana and India established diplomatic relations in 1957, shortly after Ghana's independence, making it one of the oldest India in Africa. Relations between the two countries have been close and friendly, marked by high-level political visits, extensive economic cooperation, and strong cultural ties.

Political relations

India and Ghana have maintained regular high-level contacts and exchanges. Indian Prime Ministers have visited Ghana on several occasions, including Jawaharlal Nehru in 1961, Indira Gandhi in 1966 and 1983, Rajiv Gandhi in 1988, and Manmohan Singh in 2007. Ghanaian Presidents have also made reciprocal visits to India.

Both countries cooperate closely on international issues and are members of several multinational organizations, including the Commonwealth of Nations, the United Nations, and the Non-Aligned Movement.

Economic relations

Economic cooperation between India and Ghana has grown significantly in recent years. India is Ghana's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade between the two countries increasing by over 100% in the past decade.
