Egypt's Four Borders: Seas and Neighbors
Egypt sits at the crossroads of Africa and Asia, bordered by two seas and two nations:
- North: Mediterranean Sea – providing coastline, trade access, and moderated climate for the Nile Delta.
- East: Israel and the Gaza Strip – the Sinai Peninsula forms this land border, with the Suez Canal as a vital global shipping lane.
- South: Sudan – a long desert border; the Hala'ib Triangle is a disputed area.
- West: Libya – another desert frontier, historically a route for trade and migration.
These borders define a nation dominated by the Nile River, which flows north from Sudan to the Mediterranean, sustaining almost all Egyptian life and agriculture in a narrow green corridor through the desert.
