Ethiopia in World War II: Invasion, Resistance, Liberation, and Allied Contribution

Italy invaded in 1935; Emperor Haile Selassie led resistance but was defeated. Occupation lasted ~5 years with atrocities. In 1941, British and Ethiopian forces liberated the country, restoring Selassie. Ethiopian troops then fought in the North African campaign, secured the Horn of Africa, and participated in the 1942 Addis Ababa Conference. Post‑war, Ethiopia became a UN founding member.
