Why did more enslaved Africans In South Carolina than white settlers?

It is incorrect to assume that there were more enslaved Africans than white settlers in South Carolina. Although enslaved Africans made up a large portion of the population in South Carolina, white settlers were always in the majority. During the colonial period, the population of South Carolina was predominantly white.
