What is the climate in Nigeria?

Nigeria's climate is tropical. The country can basically be divided into two primary climate zones:

1) The southern coastal region, where the climate is hot and humid for most of the year. The average annual temperature in this zone is around 27°C (80.6°F), with relatively little variation throughout the year. The humidity is typically around 80%, and rainfall is heavy, with an annual average of around 2,000 mm (78.7 inches). The rainy season in this zone lasts from April to October, and the dry season lasts from November to March.

2) The northern region, which has a more tropical continental climate. The average annual temperature in this zone is around 30°C (86°F), and the humidity is lower than in the south. The rainy season in this zone lasts from June to September, and the dry season lasts from October to May.
