Where Did Stanley Find Livingstone?

On 10 November 1871, Henry Morton Stanley located Dr. David Livingstone in Ujiji, a town on the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika in present-day Tanzania (then part of the Congo Free State / Arab-Swahili sphere). Stanley's famous greeting: "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"

Livingstone had been out of contact for years; Stanley's expedition (funded by the New York Herald) traveled from Zanzibar inland. The meeting was brief; Livingstone declined to leave, continuing his explorations until his death in 1873 (Chitambo, Zambia).
