Lake Tanganyika is located in east-central Africa, forming the border between Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Burundi. It is the longest freshwater lake in the world, stretching approximately 673 kilometers (418 miles) from north to south and ranging in width from 40 to 80 kilometers (25 to 50 miles).
