What kinds of plains are in Egypt?

Egypt has three types of plains:

1. The Mediterranean Coastal Plain

This is a strip of land along the northern coast of Egypt, lying between the Mediterranean Sea and the Qattara Depression. The width of the Mediterranean coastal plain varies from around 25 km in the west near the Libyan border, to around 150 km in the northeast, in the Nile Delta region. The plain is formed from layers of sand, mud, limestone and marl, which have been deposited over time by the Nile and other rivers, as well as by the accumulation of marine sediments.

2. The Nile Valley and Delta

These plains were created by the river Nile. They stretch from Cairo to the Mediterranean Sea.

- The Nile Valley is a narrow, fertile strip of land that is home to most of Egypt's population. The Nile River flows through the Nile Valley, providing irrigation for the fertile soil. The Nile Valley is bounded by the Eastern Desert on one side and the Western Desert on the other side.

- The Nile Delta is a fan-shaped area of land formed by the deposition of sediment by the Nile River as it flows into the Mediterranean Sea. The Nile Delta is a rich agricultural region, producing a variety of crops, including rice, cotton, and sugarcane.

3. The Western Desert Plain

This large plain is located in the western part of Egypt and stretches from the northern coast to the Sudan border. The Western Desert Plain is mostly flat and covered with sand and rocks. The plain is home to several oases, which are places where water has collected in the desert and created fertile land.
