Are Jews in Morocco treated fairly?
Jews were a well integrated minority with a good standard of living until Morocco obtained its independence in 1956, when the atmosphere became less tolerant. There was a series of anti-Jewish riots culminating in the Casablanca pogrom of 1967. The number of Jewish Moroccans fell from an estimated 250,000 to around 25,000 by 2016 due to emigration prompted by the rise of Arab nationalism and Islamic fundamentalism, though the King of Morocco has worked to preserve the country's Jewish history.
