Where did senegal get its name from?

Senegal takes its name from the Senegal River, which forms much of its border with Mauritania and passes through the country’s capital, Dakar, reaching the Atlantic Ocean at Saint-Louis. The river’s name is derived from the Wolof term “Senega,” which means “canoe.”
