Is Tanzania a rich or poor country?

Tanzania is a low-income country. It is ranked 161st out of 189 countries on the United Nations Human Development Index, and its per capita gross domestic product (GDP) is $1,100. Poverty is widespread, with over 60% of the population living on less than $1.90 per day. The economy is largely dependent on agriculture, which employs over 70% of the labor force. The main exports are coffee, tea, cotton, and cashew nuts. Tanzania also has a significant tourism industry, which is centered on the country's many natural attractions, including Mount Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti National Park, and the Zanzibar Archipelago.Despite its economic challenges, Tanzania has made significant progress in reducing poverty and improving social conditions. The country has achieved universal primary education, and the literacy rate is over 70%. Tanzania has also made progress in reducing child mortality and improving maternal health. However, the country still faces many challenges, including a high rate of HIV/AIDS, a shortage of skilled workers, and a lack of infrastructure.
