Who built al aqsa mosque?

The Al-Aqsa Mosque was built by the Umayyad caliph Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan between 691 and 692 CE. He was known for his vast public works and is also credited with building the Dome of the Rock, another important Islamic structure in Jerusalem.
