How can one become a member of parliament in Ghana?

1. Be a Ghanaian citizen.

2. Be at least 18 years old.

3. Be of good character.

4. Have a sound mind.

5. Be able to speak and understand English.

6. Have the required educational qualifications.

This includes at least a first degree from an accredited university.

7. Be registered to vote.

8. Submit a nomination form to the Electoral Commission.

The nomination form must be accompanied by a deposit of GH¢10,000.

9. Campaign for election.

This can include giving speeches, meeting with voters, and advertising.

10. Win the election.

In order to win the election, a candidate must receive the highest number of votes cast in their constituency.

11. Be sworn into Parliament.

New members of parliament are sworn into office by the Speaker of Parliament.

12. Serve your term in Parliament.

A term of parliament in Ghana lasts for four years.
