Mission
The Niger Cadets are responsible for:
- Public security
- The fight against terrorism
- The protection of public buildings
- The escort of convoys
- The maintenance of law and order
- The repression of crime
Organization
The Niger Cadets are organized into three main units:
- The General Directorate of Public Security (DGSP)
- The General Directorate of Territorial Intelligence (DGRT)
- The General Directorate of Republican Security (DGSR)
The DGSP is responsible for the overall command of the Niger Cadets. The DGRT is responsible for the collection and analysis of intelligence. The DGSR is responsible for the protection of public buildings and the escort of convoys.
Training
The Niger Cadets receive training from the Niger National Police Academy and from international partners, such as the United States, France, and Germany. The training includes:
- Basic police skills
- Specialized training in counterterrorism, crowd control, and VIP protection
- Human rights training
Equipment
The Niger Cadets are equipped with a variety of weapons and equipment, including:
- Firearms
- Ammunition
- Body armor
- Communication devices
- Vehicles
- Riot control equipment
Funding
The Niger Cadets are funded by the Niger government and by international donors, such as the United States, France, and Germany.
Challenges
The Niger Cadets face a number of challenges, including:
