Livingstone became the first European to explore the lake in 1849.
Victoria Falls:
In 1855, he became the first European to view the massive waterfall which he named after Queen Victoria.
Zambezi River:
Livingstone explored and mapped the course of the Zambezi River, including the section below Victoria Falls which was previously unknown to Europeans.
Lake Malawi:
He was amongst the first Europeans to document and describe Lake Malawi, which he called Lake Nyasa, in 1859.
Shire River:
Livingstone also explored and mapped the Shire River, which connects Lake Malawi to the Zambezi River.
Mount Mulanje:
Livingstone became the first European to provide a detailed account of Mount Mulanje, the highest mountain in Malawi, in 1861.
Mpala Tree:
He is also known for identifying and describing the Mpala tree (Afzelia quanzensis), which he encountered during his explorations in the Zambezi region.
