Requirements:
1. Age: You must be at least 18 years old to apply for a driving licence in Slovakia.
2. Residency: You must be a resident of Slovakia or have a valid work permit or study visa.
3. Medical Examination: You must pass a medical examination which includes a vision test, hearing test, and a general health check-up.
4. Driving Theory Test: You must pass a theoretical test which covers traffic rules, road signs and regulations.
5. Driving Practical Test: After passing the theoretical test, you will need to pass a practical driving test which assesses your driving skills and ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
Steps to obtain a Slovak driving license:
1. Apply for a Learner's Permit:
- Visit your local District Office of the Slovak Republic Police with the following documents:
- Completed application form
- Valid passport or ID card
- Residence permit or work permit (if applicable)
- Medical examination certificate
- Proof of payment for the learner's permit fee
2. Take the Driving Theory Test:
- Schedule a driving theory test appointment at your nearest District Office of the Slovak Republic Police.
- Bring your learner's permit and ID card to the test center.
- Pass the theoretical test to obtain a Provisional Driving Licence.
3. Take Driving Lessons:
- Enroll in a driving school that is authorized by the Slovak Ministry of Transport and Construction to receive driving lessons.
- Complete a minimum of 28 hours of compulsory practical training, which includes both on-road and off-road driving exercises.
4. Take the Driving Practical Test:
- Once you have completed your driving lessons and feel confident in your driving abilities, you can schedule a practical driving test at your local District Office of the Slovak Republic Police.
- Bring your Provisional Driving Licence and ID card to the test center.
- Complete the practical driving test to obtain a full Slovak driving licence.
Note:
- You can apply for an exchange of your foreign driving licence if you have a valid driving licence from a country that has a reciprocity agreement with Slovakia. Check the list of countries with reciprocity agreements on the Slovak Ministry of Transport and Construction's website.
- If you do not have a valid foreign driving licence or if your country does not have a reciprocity agreement with Slovakia, you will need to follow the steps outlined above to obtain a Slovak driving licence.
