What year was Uluru given back to the aborigines?
Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, wasn't given back but rather leased back through title deeds to its native titleholders, the Anangu people, in 1985 by the Australian government as part of the Uluru–Kata Tjuta National Park. Under the terms of the leaseback arrangement, the Uluru–Kata Tjuta National Park is jointly managed by the Anangu traditional owners and the Australian Parks and Wildlife Service.
