Research the currency used in the places where you will be traveling.
Visit a bank or currency center to purchase traveler's checks.
Show a state or federal photo identification to the teller.
Tell the teller what currency you would like the traveler's checks issued in and the denomination size you would like, such as $20, $50 or $100.
Sign each of the checks in the designated area.
Keep the purchase agreement and receipt separate from your traveler's checks. If the checks are lost or stolen, you then have your documentation to replace the checks.
