What is the doctrine of separation powers in Zambia?

Separation of Powers is a constitutional doctrine that all levels of government in the country have three separate branches: the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch.

The legislative branch writes laws, the executive branch enforces laws, and the judicial branch interprets the law. Under this system, no branch has complete control of the government, preventing any one branch from becoming too powerful.

For the Zambian case :

- Legislative power (power to make laws) is exercised by the National Assembly.

- Judiciary (power to interpret and apply laws) is exercised by the courts of law.

- Executive power( power to administer and execute laws) is vested in the President as head of state and head of government.
