How did the genocide end in Rwanda?

The Rwandan genocide ended on July 4, 1994, when the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), a Tutsi rebel group led by Paul Kagame, captured Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. The RPF had been fighting the Hutu-led government of Rwanda since 1990. The genocide began in April 1994, after the assassination of Rwandan President Juvénal Habyarimana.

The Rwandan genocide was a systematic and intentional killing of Tutsi people by Hutu people. The genocide was carried out by the Rwandan government, the Rwandan Armed Forces (FAR), the Interahamwe, and other Hutu militias. The Rwandan genocide resulted in the deaths of an estimated 800,000 Tutsi people.

The RPF's capture of Kigali ended the genocide. The RPF then established a new government in Rwanda. The new government began to rebuild the country and to try to reconcile the Hutu and Tutsi people.
